Black Belt Divisions

Gabi is back out for her semifinal at super-heavy. She's playing guard and as she comes up, Lauren Rojas nearly passes! After that she scores another advantage with an outside heel hook!. Lauren does have two penalties for passivity though. In another leg lock exchange, Gabi snatches an Estima lock and sends it for the tap. Fun quick match! Rojas went down swinging.

Jose Jurema closes out a tidy 6-0 win to advance. He's here after winning gold at No-Gi Pans in 2024, looking to go back to back. Erin Harpe runs up the score in her semifinal, it's not often we see her but she's always impressive.

null

Anabel Lopez and Sula-Mae Loewenthal are up in their semifinal. Sula pulls. Anabel is able to pass to the back, she is sinking in the rear naked choke. She doesn't get the finish but she does get the points. She's pouring it on late and looking for the submission but time expires. Anabel into the finals.

Matheus Luna is up 2-0 on Johnny Tama with a spot in the quarters on the line. He will advance, beating the world no-gi champ. Dante Leon now takes the mat at heavyweight against Brian Beaury. He's up 4-0 and on top putting on the pressure. He passes to north south, up 7-0, Beaury reguards, Dante passes again! He's on fire.

null

They don't five Sarah much of a break, she's back out against Gamila Kanew, who got here by beating Rosa Walsh again. Sarah on top, she quickly passes and navigates her way to mount. Arm triangle is locked up, Gamila turns to give her back. She escapes, Sarah snatches the heel hook. On the next mat over, fellow dream teamer Leticia Teixeira takes on Sula-Mae Loewenthal. Sula gets to her closed guard and jumps to an armbar for the tap, great one.

null

Sarah Galvão is back up now against Julia Boscher. Sarah sweeps up to the top for two. She passes to the back, she's now up 9-0. She falls off the back but is quickly into an armbar and wins by submission!

null

In the lightweight semifinal, rookie black belt Zara Di Tofano takes the back of Amanda Bruse and has racked up a bunch of advantages. Zara will do it! Another big match at women's heavyweight, Yara Soares facing Anabel Lopez. Anabel won Worlds last year and Yara may be her biggest test, but she rarely does no-gi so her seeding was low. Anabel strikes early with a takedown. Yara sweeps her way up. Things are very even, and through ten minutes we go to decision. Anabel wins!

null

Nadia Frankland and Injana are back up, they faced off earlier in the absolute. Frankland pulls, hunts the legs but Goodman passes to turtle early on for an advantage. Frankland reguards. Now she wrestles up and is on a body lock but cannot convert, but she still earns an advantage. Injana passes and nearly takes the back but only nets herself two advantages and ends up on bottom. Nadia is working hard to pass late and she may get it... but time expires. Injana gets two wins over top-10 Nadia today.

More women's matches coming through now. Caroline Brunacio continues her crazy run from the gi and beats Jaine Fragoso. Amanda Bruse is now out to defend her title from last year at this event, she's facing Sabrina Gondim. She wins by heel hook. Sarah Galvão is also up now facing gi world medalist Rebeca Lima. She attacks an arm early but Lima survives. She transitions to the crab ride then comes up into side control. After a few attacks, she gets the tap with the kimura.

null

Julian Espinosa, Miguel Campos, Thaynara Victoria and Gianni Grippo all win by submission in rapid succession. We have some women's finals already set now as semifinals finish. Ana Mayordomo facing Beatriz Campos, Ana competed Thursday in Vegas for UFC BJJ and might make the finals here. She is losing by advantages but lands a beautiful armbar! She wins by submission.

  • Women's Rooster - Thaís Loureiro vs Mariana Rolszt
  • Women's Light-Feather - Andrea Jordan vs Mayssa Bastos
  • Women's Feather - Thaynara Victoria vs Ana Mayordomo
  • Women's Light - Caroline Brunacio vs Zara Di Tofano

Marco Mendes wins with a beautiful back take and choke. Kevin Mahecha wins in his usual exciting style, racking up over a dozen points on his way to the hand raise. Natan Sapp, who won brown belt world gold last year, wins by outside heel hook. Max Hanson will also advance by submission, rear naked choke against Alexandre Molinaro.

Ismael Santos out now against Sebastian Serpa in a key early featherweight bout. Santos leads 4-0 and has the lead in advantages, showing off why he's the one seed here - but Serpa ties it with a few minutes to go. Gi Pan champ Thaynara Victoria is also out now, but she's tied on advantages with Natasha Druggan here. She scores another advantage and now has a deep bite on a heel hook, but Druggan counters with her own - they both escape. Thaynara scores two and that is enough to advance in a tough one at feather. Serpa will lose by DQ after going out of bounds in a submission.

Black belt divisions are beginning to roll out, the first big name coming through is Mayssa Bastos against Erika Machado. Machado with an emphatic early wrestle up, she leads 2-0. After a few minutes, Mayssa is able to work into a nice backside heel hook for the submission win. Small division, she's already in the finals tomorrow. On the other mat, Thaís Loureiro is up big early against Mara Kelly. She looks on a mission to defend her Pan No-Gi title.

Black Belt Absolute

Roosevelt and Elder are up, Roosevelt pulls and nearly takes the back early for an advantage. Elder also picks up an early penalty. Slow paced match. Roosevelt is nearly able to reverse his way to top and scores another advantage. He pulls again and will ride this out to a finals berth.

Gaudio and Pawel also up. Gaudio is up 4-0 off two sweeps but his shoulder is clearly bothering him. After an out of bounds restart, Patrick, Pawel, and the referee can't come to a consensus about the restart so they begin again on the feet. Pawel scores 2 on a rolling submission escape out of bounds. With under a minute they wipe off Pawel's 2, it's 4-0 Gaudio. That'll do it, Patrick in the finals.

Pawel Jaworski leads ultra-heavy Helder Jose here in the quarterfinal by an advantage with two minutes left. Helder working hard for his pass, he's very active for heavyweight, but Pawel is so flexible. Pawel gets it done, he's on the podium as a rookie black belt. In another quarter, Roosevelt wrestles up and passes, he is up 5-0 on Inacio Santos. He pours it on with another back take and rear naked choke to win. Patrick Gaudio wins the last quarterfinal with a pass, 3-0.

null

The last woman's semifinal is up now, Maria Barboza and Injana Goodman. They are both wrestling early. Notable size advantage for Barboza. Goodman tries to jump to the back off a drag, Barboza rolls her over the top and is awarded an advantage! Three minutes left now. Goodman continues grinding forward and Barboza picks up another penalty, which maens Goodman leads! One minute left. With short time, Barboza opens up but Goodman will counter for her own takedown and she wins! She's in the absolute finals here at No-Gi Pans.

Blink and you'll miss her, Gabi Pessanha takes the mat and submits Leticia Teixiera within thirty seconds. A few minutes she's back out against Gamila Kanew, and she submits her within thirty seconds. Kanew in a lot of pain, she may be done for the day. Pawel Jaworski and Wallisson up now, winner is in the quarters. After five they are tied on advantages, Wallisson on top. Pawel enters legs again and uses a few deep heel hook attacks to pick up a third advantage. That'll do it, upset win for Pawel over the reigning world champion.

null

Unfortunately reigning absolute champion Devhonte Johnson just announced that he will be withdrawing from the tournament with an illness. No-Gi World Champ Roosevelt Sousa is up now against Thiago Saboia, he's on the back early. Nadia Frankland is up against Injana Goodman, and racks up an early penalty on a bad pull. Frankland enters cross ashi, Goodman rolling away. Frankland tries to wrestle up or take the back but loses both. Goodman is able to keep moving and counters her way to the back! She nearly gets the RNC but will still win. Injana Goodman is on fire here.

null

Trials winner Injana Goodman is out to face Jaine Fragoso. Fragoso more a gi player but her guard is excellent - but no match for Goodman's passing, she's up 3-0 early. She's on the back and will get the tap - that was a super impressive early performance. Elder Cruz, the open class one seed, strikes early for two points on the guard pull. He's smashing now. Maria Barboza back out against Salla Simola, the two-seed. Scoreboard incorrectly has her as Maria Ruffatto. Wow, Barboza passes! She's up 3-0 with seven minutes left. She eventually pulls the upset early to shake up this bracket. Anthony Robinson hits a guillotine on Max Hanson, finishing from mount, to advance.

null

The absolute has begun and IBJJF Pan No-Gi has truly begun. Some fun match-ups early with Max Hanson taking the mat as a lightweight. On the other mat, Maria Barbosa racks up points against Karoline Caramori. Anderson Kauan has twenty points now, he's racking them up. Thiago Saboia, also a lightweight, is facing Trials winner ultra-heavyweight Mansur Makhmakhanov. Mansur leads early on a takedown but Saboia snakes around to his back in the final 90 seconds! He's up 4-2 and will win. Back on Max's mat, he scores a late advantage but we need review - yes he will win and advance.
