It's the final day of the 2025 IBJJF No-Gi World Championship and champions will be crowned today in the adult black belt divisions, including two absolute champions. Roosterweight, Thais Loureiro vs Faye Cherrier
The first two minutes are spent wrestling on the feet, with both athletes fighting for inside position. They’re tied with two penalties and one advantage each. Another penalty is added, putting both dangerously close to a double disqualification. Thais pulls to closed guard and immediately begins attacking the arm. Faye sits back on a leg attack and earns an advantage, but Thais scores two points by coming up on top and takes the lead with one minute remaining. Thais holds on through the final moments to secure the win and earn herself a black belt world title.

Light Featherweight, Ashlee Funegra vs Anne Druckrey
Ashley strikes first with a two-point sweep to take an early lead. Anne wrestles up on the legs and puts Ashley down to tie the score. Ashley fires back with a tilt sweep, then has to defend a deep kimura attempt. She escapes and secures a guard pass, extending her lead to 7–2 with five minutes remaining. Anne reverses Ashley back to the bottom position, but Ashley immediately sweeps again to make it 9–2. From there, Ashley controls the match and rides it out to a dominant victory in the black belt finals.

Featherweight, Adele Fornarino vs Ana Mayordomo
This is a big one, let’s go. They both double pull and Adele immediately snatches an ankle lock and the match is over. 16 seconds. Wow.

Lightweight, Amanda Bruse vs Lillian Marchand
Lillian sits first, and Amanda immediately slaps on an ankle lock and sits back. It looks deep, earning Amanda an advantage, but Lillian escapes and comes up on top, scoring two points for the sweep. Lillian begins hunting for the back and adds four more points and taking a 6–0 lead while hunting the choke. She attacks an arm-in variation of the rear-naked choke, known as the Ruotolo-tine, but Amanda defends well. With three minutes remaining, Lillian locks in a deep rear-naked choke. Amanda fights it, but Lillian eventually forces the tap to take home the lightweight gold in the black belt finals.

Middleweight, Elisabeth Clay vs Rebeca Lima
Six submissions for Lis Clay yesterday — she’s on a roll. Let’s see what happens here. A couple of penalties to start, but Lis immediately turns up the pressure, aggressively attacking the legs. She’s hunting heel hooks, and Rebeca is absorbing the attacks, but it feels like only a matter of time. Lis Clay delivers once again, finishing with an inside heel hook to earn her seventh submission of the event and the finals victory. With the win, Lis becomes a five-time black belt world champion.
She’ll face Gabi Pessanha later in the absolute finals.

Helena is must watch jiu-jitsu, this should be fun. Helena is all over the legs early, she's got three advantages but ops to come on top. She's up two points and working on the guard pass, that's three more and she's up 5-0. It's been all Helena so far, once she put on the pressure she's just been raking us submission attempts and points, it's 19-0 with a minute left. With seconds left she takes the back and finishes a rear naked choke earning her first ever black belt world title. Incredibly dominant performance from Helena

Heavyweight, Nia Blackman vs Cassia Moura
Both girls are brawling on the feet trading collar ties and takedown attempts. Cassia strikes first and finishes an incredible double leg takedown. Mia stands back up and Cassia pulls guard, she’s working on an x-guard sweep but can’t finish. Slick arm drag attempt gets Cassia an advantage. She wraps up the match with another sweep and double leg takedown to finish 6-0. Her 2nd IBJJF black belt nogi world title.

Super Heavyweight, Gabrieli Pessanha vs Lauren Rojas
Gabi starts off quick with a sweep, guard pass and back take and she’s up 9-0 early. To be expected with one of the greatest competitors the sport has ever known. Gabi continues to showcase her dominant jiu-jitsu with a masterclass of positional control and will finish the match with a 19-0 victory. Her 13th overall black belt world title. She’ll face Elisabeth Clay later on in the absolute finals.

Double pull to start and Lis is working her way underneath Gabi. She’ll us it to sweep and get on top, she immediately grabs a heel and has Gabi defending, it looks deep and they will roll out of bounds. We’re three minutes in and Lis is up 4-0. They trade a few penalties and Lis gets back on a heel hook. She has it! Lis Clay just submitted the 13x world champion Gabi Pessanha. Incredible performance from Lis Clay that’s eight submissions at nogi worlds and maybe the biggest win of her career.

Roosterweight, Lucas Castro vs Shay Montague
They trade sweeps early and now Shay is trying his best to invert underneath and get in on the legs, Lucas doing a good job of defending though. As Lucas starts passing Shay throws up a triangle choke and locks it in. He gets the tap with only seconds left and Shay Montague is your rooster weight black belt world champion and the first Scottish champion in IBJJF history!

Light Featherweight, Marcos Gomes vs Kleber Barbosa
Marcos snatches an outside heel hook and the two roll off the mat. He’ll get two points for the submission attempt but they will reset back in the middle. Kleber turning up the pressure now furiously trying to pass the guard but no luck yet. Marcos back into 50/50 now, he’ll get the two point sweep but darts on a heel hook and he’ll get the finish. Lightning quick submission to end the match and earn Gomes his first gold medal at the IBJJF nogi world championships.

Marco comes up on top and he’s up two points early. Gianni forces 50/50 and evens up the score. They see-saw back and forth while Gianni attacks the legs, it’s 6-6 but Gianni has the edge 3-0 on advantages with three minutes left. This time it’s Marco forcing 50/50 and he comes on top for two points. Another Gianni advantage for a toe hold but he needs two points. Thirty seconds left and Marco will hold on to the lead and get the victory over Gianni.

Lightweight, Cole Abate vs Julian Espinosa
Cole catches Julian on the back foot and takes two points for an easy sweep. Cole jumps on the back but Julian is hip to it and reverses back to top position. Again Cole is attacking the back and transitions to a choi bar attempt that gets Julian’s attention. They reset position and it’s still 2-0 Cole. Julian sits back on a foot lock but defended well and Cole adds two more points. The AOJ crowd is going wild for Cole. He jumps a knee cut pass the guard and racks up a few more points. It ends up being a dominant 14-0 victory for Cole’s second IBJJF no go world title.

Middleweight, Marcelo Fausto vs Tarik Hopstock
Marcelo snatches a single leg and puts Tarik on the mat right out of the gate. A slick false reap entry from Tarik and he uses it to sweep on top and even the score. Marcelo tries to wrestle up on a single leg but leaves his neck exposed, Tarik slaps on a d’race choke that looks tight but he won’t finish it. He did however get pass points to make it 5-2. Marcelo sweeps back on top to make it a one point match with 90 seconds left. And that’ll do it, Tarik gets the biggest victory of his career and is now a black belt no go world champion.

Pawel playing guard and inverts underneath on a heel and quickly gets the tap. Twenty seconds into the match and Pawel Jaworski wins gold.

10 seconds into the match Javier already has the takedown and back points secured, he’s hunting hard for the choke. And after hand fighting for a few seconds he finishes the rear naked choke and claims gold.

Super Heavyweight, Nico Maglicic vs Austin Morris
Kind of an awkward exchange on the feet to start things off but it’s two points for Austin. Nico inverts underneath and comes up on top for two. Right into a guard pass and Nico is in the drivers seat. A lot of pressure coming from Nico on top now, he’s passing both left and right, dominant passing display. It finishes 17-2 and Nico is a black belt world champion.

Roosevelt pulls guard and immediately starts climbing up to the back and secures the four points. He locks in the rear naked choke and forces Heikki to tap out. A quick victory and dominant 2025 for Roosevelt.
