Central Florida once again will be the center of the jiu-jitsu world when the Silver Spurs Arena in Osceola Heritage Park, located in the tourist town of Kissimmee, Florida, welcomes the sport’s top competitors for one of the year’s biggest events.

The annual Pan American Championship is one of four major competitions facilitated each year by the International Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Federation, and the entire event will unfold live on FloGrappling and the FloSports app from March 25-29.

IBJJF Pans, first held in 1996, is the largest Brazilian jiu-jitsu tournament held each year in the Americas, and it’s the second stop on the IBJJF Grand Slam schedule, preceded by the European Jiu-Jitsu IBJJF Championship (Jan. 15-24) and followed by the Brasileiro Jiu-Jitsu Championship (April 24-May 3) and the World Jiu-Jitsu IBJJF Championship (May 28-31).

The field at IBJJF Pans has grown from a couple hundred athletes to thousands, competing across 10 weight classes for the men and now nine for the women. 

Women first participated in the event in 1999. There originally were three weight classes for women, and the first expansion (to five) took place for the 2003 event. 

Pans has found a home at the Silver Spurs Arena, where it has been held since 2020. And, if this year’s winners follow the longtime trend of recent sports champions proclaiming, “I’m going to Disney World!” – well, the property, and all the other amazing things the Orlando area has to offer, is right down the street.

The host venue features more than 33,000 square feet of versatile space and the ability to seat 10,000 guests.
