The 2011 ADCC World Championships took place on Sept. 24-25, 2011, in Nottingham, United Kingdom, bringing the world’s best submission grapplers together for two days of elite competition.

Dean Lister Wins The 99kg Division

Dean Lister added another major achievement to his decorated career by winning the -99kg division at ADCC 2011. The American standout relied on his world-class submission game, using his signature leg-lock attacks to overcome the competition and claim gold. His victory also made him just the second American male to win the ADCC -99kg division.

André Galvão’s Double Gold Dominance

André Galvão was one of the biggest stars of ADCC 2011, leaving Nottingham with two gold medals. After winning the -88kg division, Galvão went on to capture the Absolute title, showcasing his ability to compete against athletes across multiple weight classes. Along the way, he defeated elite opponents including Rousimar Palhares and Pablo Popovitch, further cementing his place among the sport’s all-time greats.
