Mejia took an early 3-0 lead over Owen Jones. In the final 30 seconds of the match, Jones launched an onslaught of threatening submissions, devastating armlock into triangle attempt. Mejia weathered the storm to earn his spot in the semifinal against Gavin Corbe.

Jones was eliminated by decision in the round of 16, but was invited as a replacement to Dorian Olivarez, who was disqualified for his part in a post-match brawl.

Gavin Corbe defeated Ryoma Anraku via heel hook to earn his spot in Day 2. He's awaiting the result of Dominic Mejia vs Owen Jones. Mejia currently leads 3-0 with one minute remaining in regulation.

On his fourth appearance at ADCC, Kennedy Maciel will return to the semifinal after a 0-0 decision over Fabricio Andrey.

Andrey had a tight guillotine locked in for the first several minutes of the match, but Maciel picked up the pace in overtime, taking several penetrating shots to sway the judges.

Maciel, the 2019 ADCC silver medalist, will face Diego Pato in the semifinal.

Jacob Bornemann outpaced and outworked his veteran teammate Dante Leon in a 0-0 overtime decision. Bornemann will face PJ Barch in the semifinal.

Bornemann has taken out two ADCC veterans in his run: Leon and Oliver Taza. The matchup with Barch tomorrow will pit him against another ADCC medalist; Barch took bronze in 2024.

-66kg top-seed Diego Pato put on a masterclass of guard passing early in his quarterfinal against Gianni Grippo. The match went to end of regulation, Pato scoring six points from the back and leaving Grippo bloody from choke efforts.

Pato will advance to the semifinal tomorrow, where he'll await the winner of Kennedy Maciel and Fabricio Andrey.

Russia's Magomed Dzharbaev won a decision in a 0-0 match against division top-seed Vagner Rocha that left both athletes bruised and bloody. He'll face Mateusz Szczecinski in the semifinal tomorrow.

Following the decision, Rocha signaled his retirement to the audience and embraced his son and daughter, Achilles and Jasmine, mat side. Both Achilles and Jasmine will be competing in the semifinals tomorrow.

PJ Barch will return to the ADCC semifinals, utilizing his pressure passing to break Tommy Langaker's guard and tally up an 8-0 margin. Barch will face the winner of the PSF teammate showdown between Jacob Bornemann and Dante Leon.

I don't know about this one. Szczecinski had Dorsey locked in a body triangle from closed guard. Dorsey countered by stepping over the locking leg. That kept both men trapped in a position neither of them wished to be in. The warnings and eventual penalty went to the athlete on top, Dorsey.

Dorsey broke free with 90 seconds remaining, and attempted a few compelling passes, but not enough to overcome his negative point on the scoreboard.

Szczecinski will take on Vagner Rocha or Magomad Dzharbaev, now in overtime.

The European Trials winner was in complete control for the first four minutes. He set up a false reap into an ankle lock, and got the quick tap to advance to the finals. Next up for Tajik: Jozef Chen in tomorrow's -88kg semifinal.

Gabriel Brod finished Kanard with a rear naked choke from the back. Brod will face Pawel Jaworski in the semis tomorrow.

Jozef Chen defeated Chris Wojcik via points (6-0) to claim his place in the semis. Chen will face the winner of Nathan Haddad and Marlon Tajik, in action now on Mat 3.

Achilles Rocha might have just written the code on how to beat Cyborg. The bad news: that code is move, scrap, react, taunt the way only Achilles can.

The youngest Rocha had an impressive start to the day against Declan Moody, but this quarterfinal performance was yet another evolution.

Rocha will face Luke Griffith in the semifinal tomorrow.

After first taking down Roberto Dib Frias, Pawel Jaworski keeps his submission streak alive in front of his home crowd in Krakow, Poland.

Jaworski knocked out the no.1 seed, 2024 bronze medalist Felipe Costa, again relying on his favorite leg lock to finish the match.

Jaworski, the ADCC rookie, will make his debut in the ADCC semifinal tomorrow. He'll take on Lucas Kanard or Gabriel Brod, who are currently on Mat 1.

In the most difficult to watch match of the day, Luke Griffith defeated Steffen Banta, who was twice penalized for passivity.

Griffith will face Achilles Rocha or Roberto Cyborg. That quarterfinal is on Mat 3 now.

Felipe Costa and Pawel Jaworski are on Mat 2, vying for the first spot in the semifinal. Coming soon, the rest of the division:

Daniel Schaurdt found himself on the recieving end of Eoghan O'Flanaghan's improved wrestling early in the match. But in the points period, the two leg lock specialists found themselves in a leg lock duel. Schuardt'ss Woj-lock got the better of O'Flanaghan's ankle lock.

Schuardt is having the breakout performance of the tournament, with two submissions over two heavily favored ADCC veterans, Michael Pixley and O'Flanaghan.

Kaynan Duarte submits Javier Zaruski via katagatame. The no.1 seed skates into Day 2 for the semifinal, where he'll await the winner of Eoghan O'Flanaghan and Daniel Schuardt.

Hugo submitted Ruslan Abdulaev via rear naked choke, his second on the day in two matches.

Josh Saunders defeated Roosevelt Sousa via decision and will face Felipe Pena in the semifinal tomorrow.

Felipe Pena defeated Nick Hartman via rear naked choke after amassing a 6-0 lead. Some in the crowd thought the result controversial, accusing Pena of tapping to Hartman's toe hold early in the match.

ADCC officials ruled it no tap, and allowed the match to continue. Pena now has two submission on the weekend (Etiabari, Hartman).

He'll face Roosevelt Sousa or Josh Saunders tomorrow. They are currently fighting for the spot on Mat 3.

The semifinal round begins tomorrow. Here's how the -55kg division shaped out:

Mayssa Bastos staved overtime with 30 seconds left in regulation. She scored three points for a back take against Valerie Hamilton, then locked in the rear naked choke.

Dorian addressed the situation in an interview with FloGrappling.

Dominic Mejia will not advance uncontested to the -66kg semifinal. Owen Jones, the only -66kg athlete to lose via decision, will replace Olivarez in the quarterfinal. Jones and Mejia will face later today.

Olivarez and his opponent, Bekzat Zapashov, have both recieved one-year ADCC bans.

Among the day's matches, you might not find a more evenly balanced, back-and-forth scrap than the quarterfinal between Ana Mayordomo and Sheliah Lindsey. Mayordomo won off a 3-point pass. But the margin hardly speaks to how well-fought and closely contested this bout was.

Mayordomo will face Jasmine Rocha tomorrow.

The no.1 seed at -55kg put on an impressive display of control and strategy, waiting until points to finish her back take, then going belly down in back control for the strangle.

The rest of the division is now playing out on the mat. Rocha will face the winner of Sheliah Lindsey and Ana Mayordomo (Mat 2).

Mayssa Bastos and Valerie Hamilton are in the quarterfinal on Mat 3. Ana Rodrigues and Jeanette Gloger are on Mat 1.

Joslyn Molina, 14, was already in the history books as the youngest-ever ADCC competitor. Now, she's also the youngest-ever semifinalist after a win over Injana Goodman.

The -65kg semifinals are now set:

Reigning -65kg champion scored two points late in overtime to defeat the no.8 seed Nadia Frankland. She moves onto the semifinal, where she'll face Mo Black who won in an overtime decision in a 0-0 bout.

It was all Sarah Galvão in her division opener against Livia Barasina. Sarah wrestled, passed, took the back at will. In regulation, she attacked an armlock from the mounted triangle. Barasine argued after the match that she didn't tap. Regardless, Galvão moves to tomorrow's semifinal where she'll face Injana Goodman or Joslyn Molina. That match is coming next.

Gabi Pessanha and Anabel Lopez shared an ADCC debut, which went to a 0-0 decision after overtime. Judges awarded Lopez the decision favoring a near takedown at the end of overtime.

Lopez will face Paige Ivette Clymer in the semifinal tomorrow.

Paige Ivette Clymer chased the leg attack early against Yara Soares. She ended up with a kneebar toward the end of regulation for the submission victory.

Elizabeth Mitrovic landed a perfectly-timed counter takedown in overtime to defeat Nia Blackman by points. She'll advance to face Helena Crevar tomorrow in the semifinal.

Helena Crevar was calm and precise in her opening bout at ADCC 2026, scoring 10 points on Matilda Reid before securing the rear naked choke. She's awaiting the winner of Nia Blackman vs Elizabeth Mitrovic, whom she'll face in the semifinal tomorrow.

Blackman vs Mitrovic is currently in scoreless in the final minute of regulation.

After nearly being disqualified for striking his opponent Bekzat Zapashov (read below), Dorian Olivarez was allowed to continue and finished a rear mount triangle.

Tensions boiled over as he was leaving the mat, and a violent scrum ensued between Zapashov supporters and Olivarez' team, including Dorian, Gordon Ryan and others.

Olivarez will face Dominic Mejia, who defeated Ygit Hanay 7-0.

Dorian Olivarez was already bloodied up after trampling Kazakhstan's Bekzat Zapashov in wrestling exchanges and mounting him.

Olivarez, on the attack, disconnected his chest and began slapping his opponent from the top. Olivarez appears to have accused Zapashov of biting. Tensions boiled over leading to further unsportsmanlike antics mat side. 

Upon video review, ADCC officials confirmed that Zapashov did bite Olivarez. The ADCC brass is allowing the match to continue, now live on Mat 2.

The match between Japan's Ryoma Anraku and ADCC veteran Owen Jones went to a 0-0 draw in overtime. Anraku took the victory.

Gavin Corbe advances via decision over Nico Mikuliszyn.

Corbe and Anraku will face off in the quarters.

Kennedy Maciel demonstrated slow, methodical dominance in his first round victory over Kamil Wilk in the ADCC 2026 -66kg division. He won 10-0 over the Polish grappler, and is slated to take on Fabricio Andrey in the quarterfinal.

This is the most classic Fabricio Andrey submission you could ask for.

It's precise, it's pretty, it looks like something only the Hokage could do.

Fabricio defeats David Santos and awaits the winner of Kennedy Maciel vs Kamil Wilk. Maciel currently leads 3-0 with 3 minutes remaining in regulation.

PSA to the athletes at -66kg:

Don't attack Gianni Grippo's legs. He will counter with a backtake, he will score, he with throw a choke across your face.

Grippo did not secure the finish, but he advances nonetheless. He's slated to take on Diego Pato in the quarterfinal.

ADCC's -77kg division is simply a murder's row. Here's who made it through:

AOJ's Pato submitted Poland's Jakub Wiklacz with a rear naked choke from the back after a 6-0 lead.

Jacob Bornemann, ADCC rookie from Pedigo Submission Fighting, defeated ADCC veteran in the round of 16 at 77kg. The early minutes of the match were a back-and-forth scramble. But the younger Bornemann began to snowball with his trademark work rate, and scored a pass in the final minute of the match. He'll take on teammate Dante Leon in the quarterfinal.

Dante Leon and Nikolay Betrov were back and forth with sweeps and submission attempt. Overtime seemed immonent with 20-seconds left on the clock. But Leon, while chasing the back, locked in the submission to prevent overtime, and advance to the quarterfinal. He's awaiting the result of teammate Jacob Bornemann and Oliver Taza.

While the first round of the -77kg division winds down, the -66kg begins on Mat 2 with Diego Pato vs Jakub Wiklacz. Here's what's coming up:

Scorless in the closing three minutes of over time, PJ Barch executed a textbook slide-by, and chased the back. Rudolph defended his back, but conceded the takedown for two points. That was the lead Barch needed to advance. He's now slated to face Tommy Langaker in the quarterfinal.

Taylor Pearman unloaded a barrage of submission threats over Norway's Tommy Langaker throughout their 10-minute bout. But in the closing 90-seconds, Langaker threatened a convincing pass, forcing Pearman to concede his back. Langaker scored three points for the back take, and advances to the quarterfinal. He's awaiting the winner of PJ Barch vs Kaya Rudolph, currently scoreless in overtime.

Mateusz Szczecinski and Julio Martins went deep into a scoreless overtime. But the Polish leg locker refused to leave the match to decision. With 30 seconds remaining on the clock, the hometown favorite hunted down an Aoki lock, a specialty of his that earns him a berth in the quarterfinal. He'll take on Elijah Dorsey.

Elijah Dorsey rolled all the way to the edge of bounds, chasing Mateusz Gamrot with a rear naked choke, to earn the submission victory. Gamrot was bloodied up at the end of the match, which heavily highlighted Dorsey's sophisticated wrestling.

On an adjacent mat, Magomed Dzharbaev defeats Alexandre Robinho via points.

Dzharbaev will face Vagner Rocha in the quarterfinals. Dorsey is awaiting the winner of Julio Martins and Mateusz Szczecinski, currently scoreless in regulation on Mat 1.

Vagner Rocha and Miami neighbor, 20-year old Michael Sainz kept their first round match razor thin until the final minute, where Sainz miss-timed his guard pull. The judges decided that Sainz hadn't attacked his shot for long enough before sitting back, and punished him with a penalty. That was the deciding factor in the match.

Rocha will advance to take on the winner of Magomed Dzharbaev and Aexandre Robinho, currently on Mat 2.

North American Trials Winner Nathan Haddad wins his ADCC debut, knocking off highly-decorated jiu-jitsu world champion Gustavo Batista in the round of 16. Haddad will face Marlon Tajik in the quarterfinals.

Sweden's Marlon Tajik earned the submission over fellow European Faris Ben-Lamkiden via rear naked choke in the final 18 seconds of the match. The bout, which went deep into overtime, featured nearly 15-minutes of back and forth wrestling scramble.

As the first round of the -88kg division comes to a close on mats 2 &3, the -77kg division is beginning on Mat 1 with Vagner Rocha vs Michael Sainz. Here's what to expect in the round of 16:

Wojcik's eyebrow was opened up at the very beginning on the match. The two ADCC veterans went back and forth in a demonstration of wrestling, leg attacks, and, in the final 30-seconds a three point back take immediately into submission. Wojcik will advance to take on former B-Team teammate Jozef Chen in the quarterfinal.

Chen will advance to face Chris Wojcik or Santeri Lilius, who are currently engaged in a back-and-forth match on Mat 1.

It's not that every ADCC veteran has fallen, of course. But we're absolutely witnessing some breakout performances from newcomers. Here are the matches in which an ADCC rookie has defeated a veteran (so far).

He snowballed his lead from there, winning via nine point margin with a katagatame locked in as time expired.

Brod will advance to face Lucas Kanard in the quarterfinals.

Australia's Lucas Kanard and Brazil's Matheus Diniz went back and forth in their opener at -88kg, both taking turns with significant submission attempts and compelling positional work. But Kanard took Diniz' back in the points period of regulation, and rode the three-point margin to the end to advance to the quarterfinal. 

He'll face the winner of Gabriel Brod vs Jon Blank, currently on Mat 2.

Poland's Pawel Jaworski scored a gnarly ankle lock submission against the usually ironclad submission defense of Roberto Dib Frias. He'll move on to face Felipe Costa in the quarterfinal.

Roberto Cyborg and Eli Braz went to decision (the first of the day) to finish off the -99kg round of 16. Cyborg took the victory to move ahead. Here's how the -99kg quarterfinals at ADCC 2026 will shape up:

Achilles Rocha and Declan Moody delivered the early match of the day. That's not a surprise given both of their styles.

What is surprising is the way Rocha outclassed Moody in the closing moments of the match. Moody was a reasonable pick to win the division, but Rocha took matters into his own hands, scoring 12 points on the Australian to move ahead. He'll face the winner of Cyborg vs Eli Braz, currently in overtime on Mat 2.

Luke Griffith scored a quick submission in his first round match at -99kg, defeating Poland's Marcin Maciulewicz, less than two minutes in the match via rear naked choke.

Javier Zaruski also scored a rear naked choke finish in the final seconds of his match against Vinicius Lessa, where he was leading by three points.

British ADCC veteran and leg lock specialist Eoghan O'Flanagan took down Polish favorite Adam Wardzinski via heel hook in regulation in the first round of the -99kg division. O'Flanagan had been threatening with the false reap for the majority of the match before attacking with a simpler outside heel hook from.
