Japan's Ryoma Anraku defeated No. 2 seed Owen Jones by decision Saturday in Krakow, Poland, advancing past one of the tournament favorites and securing a major upset in the bracket.
Anraku Advances In Overtime
The matchup remained scoreless through regulation and continued into overtime, with neither competitor able to separate himself on the scoreboard.
After the match ended in a 0-0 draw, Anraku was awarded the decision victory, ending Jones' tournament run and earning a spot in the quarterfinals.
The result marks one of the most notable upsets of the opening round at ADCC 2026.

Jones entered the tournament as the No. 2 seed in the -66kg division, while Anraku came in as the No. 15 seed.
Bracket Opens Up At -66kg
Jones was among the highest-seeded competitors in the division and one of the athletes many expected to make a deep run through the bracket.
Instead, Anraku moves on after one of the biggest results of the tournament's opening session. His victory reshapes the -66kg bracket and removes one of the division's top contenders from championship contention.
