Another top dog has gone down at the 2026 ADCC World Championship, with No. 1 seed Diego "Pato" Oliveira falling to Kennedy Maciel in the semifinals of the -66kg division.
Pato finished with a silver medal at ADCC Worlds 2024 and was looking to win the first gold of his ADCC career, but an upset at the hands of the division’s No. 13 seed in overtime will leave Pato waiting two more years for his opportunity.

Maciel will advance to face Gavin Corbe in the -66kg division final. Corbe defeated Dominic Mejia via a heel hook submission to compete for gold.
Kennedy Maciel Will Compete In His Second Ever ADCC Final
Kennedy Maciel will make his second career attempt at ADCC gold. In 2019, Maciel advanced to the final but lost to Tanquinho Mendes. Corbe is making his ADCC debut, coming in on one month’s notice.
Two grapplers who most wouldn’t have expected to make it this far will battle for ADCC history later in the day.

Gavin Corbe Is Here Against All Odds
Gavin Corbe and Kennedy Maciel will now face each other in the -66kg division final, but just two months ago, Corbe didn’t even know he’d be competing in Poland.
He was the final invite to the -66kg division, coming in as a late replacement in less than one month’s notice to fill out the bracket.
Despite facing long odds, Corbe has made a statement in the tournament and will medal regardless of the result of his match with Maciel.
