IBJJF Houston Open
Two of the biggest teams in jiu-jitsu had strong showings in Houston this weekend. Gracie Barra closed out the black belt absolute with Victor Silverio and Ignacio Neto sharing the gold. Sky Lovell out of Romulo Barral’s GB Northridge won double gold in the brown belt division, taking first place in the super-heavy and absolute.

Atos youngsters shone in the colored ranks. Seventeen-year-olds Tainan Dalpra and Mateus Rodrigues — competing as middleweight and medium heavyweight — closed out the blue belt absolute division after winning gold in their respective divisions. This is their fourth tournament of the year they've taken double gold.
Featherweight Sophia Flores, the only Atos female competitor among the purple belt ranks at this tournament, also took double gold.
It's worth noting the Atos/Art of Jiu-Jitsu squad took home 11 gold medals in total among its seven competitors!
ADCC Open
You can read our report here of the superfights that went down during Saturday’s event in Coral Springs, Florida, and the match videos can be found here.
A major piece of news out of the tournament is that Maggie Grindatti of Fight Sports won the female absolute and received a cool $1,000 cash prize – which is exactly the same offered to the winner of the men’s division! Bravo to the tournament promoters for stepping up and doing women competitors right.
Spyder Invitational BJJ Championship
Replay of the full event will be available in our archives shortly, but we wanted to bring to your attention that this event in Seoul, South Korea, rocked. With two mini-tournaments (-76kg and +76kg) featuring a mix or purple, brown and black belts competing against each other, the event delivered an early contender for gi match of the year, between black belt Hugo Marques of Soul Fighters and brown belt Jonnatas Gracie of Atos.
Stayed up until 3.30am to watch Spyder live – feeling it today. Got to see stuff like this though, so not unhappy about that :) pic.twitter.com/X0A3xRuQQu
