Watch F2W 94, Nov17: Spriggs vs Simoes!

In case you haven’t heard, Fight 2 Win Pro has a reputation for throwing some of the best jiu-jitsu events the bay area has ever seen.

The biggest party in grappling is set to do it again this weekend with a beast of a card, including the main event between ADCC Champion Yuri Simoes and the 'Mush-Master' himself, Tim Spriggs.

Main Event: Yuri Simoes (No. 2 ) vs Tim Spriggs (No. 7)

Tim Spriggs is coming off a dominant ADCC trials victory where he BEASTED through the competition like a hot knife through butter, securing two submissions out of five total victories. The TLI representative is the founder of the train-wreck system, a collection of violent-yet-calculated series of takedown attacks that is simply a treat to watch (but almost certainly pure terror to experience first hand). Sprigg's guard passing ranks among the very best in the world and his athleticism is hard to find, making him an intimidating prospect for most athlete to reckon with.

Yuri Simoes, however, is not easily frazzled.

No, Simoes is in fact a man who needs little introduction, but we'll give you one anyway:  2x ADCC champion, a tow-time World No-gi absolute champion, and a veteran of the F2W circuit with wins over Dean Lister and Travis Stevens, Simoes is one of the most decorated champions in our sport today.

His game is well-rounded, and he is always out for blood. Another jiu-jitsu athlete that's developed an affinity for the standup aspects of the game, Simoes has been seen training under the tutelage of Jacob Harman.

Chances are that Spriggs will seek to test his standup chops against Yuri's well-known prowess, but we wouldn't be surprised for him to eventually pull guard to get the submission game going.  Chances are the outcome of the match will largely be dictated by the manner in which it gets to the ground, as both of these athletes don't make mistakes.

Rhalan Gracie vs Ron Keslar

One of the more intriguing bouts of the night, Bellator and Strikeforce veteran Ron Keslar will take on Rhalan Gracie, son of jiu-jitsu Legend Relson Gracie and a third-degree black belt. Gracie once said that 'if you need a gi to compete well, I question your jiu-jitsu', and he faces a unique chance to prove those words this weekend, Keslar is currently 1-1 at F2W with a big win of Nicholas Greene at F2W 76 while Rhalan Gracie stands 1-0.

We know Gracie to be an astute student of the game, and we're curious what new tricks (and old stand-by's) he'll bring to the table at F2W 94.

Rafael 'Formiga' Barbosa vs Romulo Melo – Masters Black Belt Gi Title Match

F2W has set up an excellent match between two of the very best master's competitors on the circuit. Formiga has proven to be a dominant champion both IBJJF and F2W tournament, winning nearly everything he's entered in the past year.  Meanwhile, Romulo Melo is the current Fight 2 Win 170lb Masters Black Belt title holder and the athlete with home-field advantage in this case.

With experience and sill set apart by a razor's edge, the definition in this factor has yet to reveal itself.  Don't sleep on the masters, this bout is going to have some serious heat behind it.
