Two of the best strawweights in the world will square off at FloGrappling’s Who’s Number One on May 28 when Jessa Khan takes on Patricia Fontes.

Art Of Jiu-Jitsu’s Khan is looking to keep her hot streak going after a successful WNO debut earlier this year against Danielle Kelly. A rookie black belt, Khan displayed her tenacity and thirst for submission in that match, and will try to solidify her position at no.3 in the rankings against Fontes. 

Checkmat’s Fontes, the no.4-ranked strawweight, will want to prove she deserves to be nearer the top of the charts. She has a victory over Khan in 2016 via armbar, and will try for a repeat victory in this rematch. She's a three-time no-gi world champ, and has a depth of experience to stand up to the hungry Khan.

Both women have grown since their last encounter. This 15-minute matchup has severe implications for the rankings, and the future of the division, particularly on WNO. Khan recently pulled out of a match with the no.2-ranked Grace Gundrum, and the winner of this match could be next in line for a match with the 10th Planet phenom.

All three of these athletes will want a shot at the strawweight queen, Mayssa Bastos, but they’re all being chased by hungry up and comers like Jessie Crane.

The main event, Gordon Ryan vs Luiz Panza, is scheduled for 30-minutes, and will be preceded by seven 15-minute matches on the main card to be announced later this week. There will also be three undercard matches, free to watch on FloGrappling’s Facebook and YouTube channels.
