Craig Jones vs Tye Ruotolo In The Main Event At Who's Number One On June 18
Jones and Ruotolo will headline the nine-match event in their rescheduled bout, scheduled for 15-minutes on Friday, June 18.
After postponing their last scheduled match, Craig Jones and Tye Ruotolo are now slated to face off in the main event FloGrappling’s Who’s Number One on June 18.
Craig Jones vs Tye Ruotolo was intriguing when it was originally planned for April 30. Jones pulled out of the match citing a negative reaction to a COVID vaccine, and Rutolo went on to face William Tackett instead.
That only made the upcoming main event between Jones and Ruotolo more exciting, as Ruotolo silenced all of the critics by smashing the no.3-ranked middleweight, Tackett. The Atos brown belt, Ruotolo, has risen to every occasion. He’s 4-0 on the WNO mats. He’s currently ranked no.3 at welterweight, but stepped up in weight to face Tackett, and will be making a more substantial leap to take on Jones, the no.4-ranked light heavyweight.
Like Ruotolo, Jones is undefeated in WNO matches after his 49-second heel hook victory over the 231-lb Luiz Panza. On paper, Jones is perfect on Who’s Number One; he now has three heel hook victories in as many matches. All three of his victories have come in less than five minutes, and he’s gotten more efficient in each match.
When the match was first announced in April, Ruotolo may have appeared unprepared for the match against the pound-for-pound no.6-ranked Jones. But after shutting down several high-profile leg lockers, and maintaining an impressive pace against each of his recent opponents, Ruotolo could be Jones’ biggest challenge to date.
Who’s Number One: Craig Jones vs Tye Ruotolo will take place on Friday, June 18. The main event is scheduled for 15-minutes, and will be preceded by five 15-minute matches on the main card. The main card is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. ET.
The undercard will feature three preliminary matches, slated for 15-minutes each. Those matches will be streamed live for free on FloGrappling’s Facebook and YouTube channels, beginning at 7 p.m. ET.
