Fresh off the biggest win of his career, Elder Cruz will try to keep his Tezos WNO record perfect when he takes on Haisam Rida at Tezos Who’s Number One: Musumeci vs Martinez presented by Fat Tire on March 25 in Frisco, Tx.

Checkmat’s El Monstro, Elder Cruz demonstrated his wrestling prowess in his most recent Tezos WNO match against Nick Rodriguez, a decision victory which propelled him into the top 10 of the heavyweight rankings.

Cruz is also ranked no.10 at light heavyweight after a standout performance at the 1st North American ADCC Trials in November 2021, where he racked up points on his way to the final, losing a close match to Giancarlo Bodoni at 88 kg.

Cruz will be defending his 205 lb ranking in this match against Assembly Jiu-Jitsu’s Haisam Rida, who took third in the heavyweight division at the WNO Championship in September. He’s 4-1 on the Tezos WNO mats with two submission victories, including one of the fastest in WNO history (36 seconds).

Rida’s judo skills make for an interesting matchup against the wrestling of Cruz; but he has been most successful when he can roll over the top for a kimura trap, and begin his armbar finishing sequence.
