Can 'Daisy Fresh' Win A No-Gi Worlds Team Title This Year?

After running away with the team title at IBJJF No-Gi Pans for a second straight year, Pedigo Submission Fighting looks positioned to make a challenge for their first ever team trophy at No-Gi Worlds.

“The No-Gi Pans and No-Gi Worlds are the current tournaments that show who has the deepest team. One team may have three to four superstars. But when you get deep into the colored belts, you see who is producing the future of the sport as well. That’s what it takes, a full squad that is deep.” Heath Pedigo

PSF finished fourth at No-Gi Worlds a year ago, one point behind third place Alliance. They will bring in 68 athletes to this year's event, 38 of whom are eligible to add to their adult male team total.

While the team is headlined by No-Gi World champion Dante Leon at black belt, as always a lot of points from the colored belts are needed to take home a team title at an IBJJF major.

The team did just that at the 2022 No-GI Pans, with both Michael Pixley and Jacob Couch bringing home double gold at blue belt and brown belt respectively. Getting those 36 team points between two athletes would be crucial to reaching the top of the podium at No-Gi Worlds this year.

“Team shit means everything to us. Winning the No-Gi Worlds as a team is one of our highest prioritized goals. It hasn’t ever been done by a small team, only huge powerhouse organizations. When we win these things, it gives hope to the small teams that are in their early stages and still building. That’s who we represent every time we compete. Small teams building something together from nothing.” Heath Pedigo

The 2022 IBJJF No-Gi World Championship will go down from December 8th to 11th in Anaheim, California. Tune in on FloGrappling to watch as the small team from Mt. Vernon, Illinois looks to shock the world and bring home another team trophy at an IBJJF major event.
