A much-improved Faisal Al Ketbi of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Team took gold in the -83kg (183lb) no-gi division at the Rio Grand Slam, making this his first black belt title in a major tournament. 

Erberth Santos has had to withdraw from Saturday's Rio Grand Slam due to the knee injury that saw him forced out midway through the Copa Podio Heavyweight Grand Prix. 

Bursting onto the scene in 2015 with a double gold win as a brown belt at the IBJJF World No-Gi championships, Nathiely Jesus has risen to the top of the black belt ranks in short time.
