In July 2018 the FloGrappling team visited Tokyo for the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam. We vlogged the best bits, which included video games, the swanky shopping district and – of course – plenty of jiu-jitsu.

It was a very busy weekend for jiu-jitsu indeed – HUGE events in Tokyo, Brazil, and across the United States that all went down and have meaningful implications for the rest of 2018. Read on to find out what transpired.  

Amal Amjahid, Rudson Mateus, DJ Jackson, Tomoyuki Hashimoto, and Vitor "Shaolin" Ribeiro were among the big winners at the 2018 Abu Dhabi Grand Slam in Tokyo. 

Haisam Rida is an African grappler based in Tokyo who made a name for himself by recently tapping out four black belts in one night. 

The 2018-2019 UAEJJF season kicks off on Sunday, July 29 with the first of five Abu Dhabi Grand Slam event taking place in Tokyo. 

The Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Tokyo is approaching, and the event will feature some of the biggest names in jiu-jitsu competing for big cash prizes and all-important ranking points. 

The UAEJJF 2018 Tokyo Grand Slam goes down July 29 and marks the first major event of the UAEJJF’s 2018-19 season.  

Jiu-jitsu and MMA veteran Vitor “Shaolin” Ribeiro will compete in a special attraction superfight at the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam in Tokyo.
