In the midst of winning his third No-Gi World title over the weekend Josh Hinger got caught up in a little bit of controversy to start the tournament. In his quarter-final match Hinger faced Gracie Barra black belt Ashur Darmo and after submitting him via north south choke made a few gestures that riled up social media.

After winning on Sunday FloGrappling talked to Hinger and he took a moment to publicly apologized to Ashur for the gesture.

I got a lot of heat online for some gestures from my first match but you just get in the heat of the moment, I didn't mean anything by it. I know Ashur is a nice guy. I don't like finger grabbing, it just really upsets me. I lost my cool, but I'd like to publicly apologize to Ashur for the gesture. I wish him the best, I know he's a nice guy.
