Levi Jones-Leary is an athlete with a singular, concise goal: to become a black belt World Champion. Nothing else matters.

So far the road to that dream has been paved with success, he was the breakout star of the European Championships; he followed that act with another flawless performance at the Pan Championships in March, and he was considered a favorite of the World Pro 77kg Division here in Abu Dhabi this week.

But jiu-jitsu is an unpredictable beast at times, and Oliver Lovell stunned the World when he submitted the Australian star with a kneebar in the second round of the event.

Despite the setback, Jones-Leary remains optimistic about his future at the World Championship. His only loss last year also occurred at World Pro, and he said the dissatisfaction there help fuel his World Championship Camp and was a key factor to getting to the top of the podium

Let's find out if he can do it again in just a few short weeks at the 2019 World Championships.
