Fabricio Andrey submitted five of his six opponents on Saturday in São Paulo to win the 2nd ADCC South American Trials, punching his return ticket to the 2024 ADCC World Championships in Las Vegas.

Andrey, "The Hokage," looked unstoppable, working his new leg lock game in the first several matches before continuing on with armlocks and back attacks. In the semifinal, he hit an armlock from the standing position. In the final against former Melqui Galvão teammate Kauã Gabriel, Andrey won on points, but had a rear triangle locked in as the match came to an end.

This marks the second time Andrey has won Trials to earn his spot in the ADCC World Championships. In 2022, at the World Championships in Las Vegas, Hokage defeated Cole Abate in the first round before losing to former teammate and current ADCC Champion Diogo Reis.

Two-time ADCC veteran Pedro Marinho will also be returning to the ADCC World Championships in August 2024 after his dominant performance, in which he defeated two ADCC vets.

Marinho got the nod over 2019 veteran Gabriel Almeida in the final and outscored 2022 veteran Isaque Bahiense in the semis, earning his third appearance at the 88kg division at ADCC. Marinho had a slow start in his first match, winning by decision. But he picked up three consecutive submission wins to get to the semis, winning six matches in total on the day.

A third ADCC veteran, 77kg champion Alexandre de Jesus, "Robinho," is set to make his return to ADCC after a six-win, two-submission run at ADCC Trials. In Robinho's first appearance at ADCC, he competed in the 88kg division where he lost to Mason Fowler. This season, he moved down to 77kg, where he said he felt more comfortable. Robinho also hit the podium at 77kg during the 1st ADCC South American Trials in Belo Horizonte, Brazil a week prior.

One more ADCC vet is set to make his return as Henrique Ceconi again won the -99kg division at ADCC Trials in São Paulo.

Ceconi submitted two of his five opponents to victory, and scored six points in his final to earn another berth at ADCC. In the 2022 edition of ADCC, he lost in the first round to eventual bronze-medalist Nicholas Meregali.

Maria Ruffatto is set to make her ADCC debut in August after taking gold at ADCC Trials in back to back weekends, first winning in Belo Horizonte to earn the No.1 seed, then in São Paulo to earn her ticket to Las Vegas.

Ruffatto secured two submissions in three matches in São Paulo at +65kg, including one in the final. She had a similar run in Belo Horizonte.

Multiple-time IBJJF world champion Ana Rodrigues is also headed for her ADCC debut after winning her first-ever attempt at ADCC Trials.

Rodrigues won the -55kg division, defeating Jasmine Rocha in the semifinal and earning a decision in the final after collecting two early-round submissions. Rodrigues reported to have broken her nose in the semi, but persisted through the final to victory.

At -65kg, Ana Carolina Vieira had a 100-percent submission rate in four matches, defeating Gabi McComb in the final to earn her second chance at ADCC. Her last appearance was in 2019.

Victor Honorio won the +99kg division, winning four matches to guarantee his spot at ADCC. Honorio took fourth place at ADCC Trials in Belo Horizonte a week earlier, backing out of the semis due to a reported chest pain.
