Mackenzie Dern will make her return to submission grappling in 2024, as she has accepted an invitation to compete in the -55kg division at the ADCC World Championships. The UFC contender has previously won the tournament in 2015, before her transition to full-time MMA.

Mackenzie is one of the most successful grapplers of her generation, winning IBJJF and ADCC championships as a black belt in 2015. She then transitioned to MMA, where she has put together a 13-5 record (8-5 in the UFC). She is currently ranked #8 at 115lbs and has the second most submission wins in UFC history (4).

The ADCC made the announcement today via Instagram;

The 55kg division is new this year, after previously only above and below 60kg for women's competitors. There will only be 8 competitors, and Mackenzie is now the third athlete to officially enter the fray.
