Mica Galvão Joins Team New Wave Jiu-Jitsu For CJI 2 As -77kg Wildcard
Mica Galvão will step in as the -77kg wildcard for Team New Wave at CJI 2, joining forces with John Danaher, Gordon Ryan, Giancarlo Bodoni, and more
Grappling star Mica Galvão has joined the CJI 2 team with New Wave Jiu-Jitsu, the John Danaher & Gordon Ryan-led squad based out of Austin, TX. The 2024 ADCC Champion's participation was announced and confirmed by CJI Organizer Craig Jones at WNO 29, with both Jones and Galvão in attendance.
Mica joins the team as their wildcard entry in the -77kg division, so while he isn't officially a member of their actual day-to-day activities he can still be drafted in for this competition. Their team now includes:
- -66kg: Dorian Olivarez
- -77kg: Mica Galvão
- -88kg: Giancarlo Bodoni
- -99kg: Luke Griffith
- +99kg: Dan Manasoiu
This team will clearly be a major force when CJI 2 kicks off, August 30-31st in Las Vegas, NV. With Quintet style rules, this team will face off against squads like 10th Planet, Pedigo Submission Fighting, Atos, and B-Team as they contend for the grand prize.
