While it sounds like something you might want to binge watch on Netflix over the long holiday weekend, the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation’s version of The Crown is more about making history than reliving it.

The event will bring 48 of the sport’s top competitors to Long Beach State’s iconic Walter Pyramid in Long Beach, California, where they’ll spend one action-packed day battling for supremacy across six divisions. 

The IBJJF's The Crown 2025 will be the third edition of the exclusive event, and it will take place Nov. 23, live on FloGrappling and the FloSports app. Coverage will begin at 1 p.m. Eastern.

The Crown only includes athletes hand-picked and invited by IBJJF as the best representation of world champions, past champions, top contenders, up-and-coming stars and the most technically sound gi competitors from across the Brazilian jiu-jitsu world.

The invite list is created with a few other things in mind, too – title defenses, rivalries, rematches, compelling matchups, storylines, friends, enemies, favorites, dark horses – all the things that can help make The Crown the event every fighter wants to be a part of and the one every fan refuses to miss.

The entire roster is a who’s who of gi black belts, any of whom could contend for a top spot in the next Official FloGrappling Gi Rankings. See the most recent rankings now: Men | Women

This year’s lineup for The Crown includes five of last year’s six champions and two athletes who have claimed the throne in both previous editions of The Crown.

The returning champions are:

• Brianna Ste-Marie (2024 Women’s Lightweight champion)
• Gabrieli Pessanha (2023 & 2024 Women’s Super-Heavyweight)
• Andy Murasaki (2024 Men’s Middleweight)
• Adam Wardzinski (2024 Men’s Heavyweight)
• Erich Munis (2023 & 2024 Men’s Ultra-Heavyweight)

Once the six-division field (four men’s divisions and two for women), was locked in for this year, each category was arranged into brackets. The matchups for 2025 were revealed this week via Instagram.
