The chase for International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation Grand Slam glory resumes this month with the start of the 2026 IBJJF Brazilian National Championship, also known as IBJJF Brasileiro.
The event will be held April 24 through May 3 and once again will take place at Ginásio Poliesportivo José Correa (José Correa Multi-Sport Gymnasium) in the city of Barueri, which is in São Paulo.
Thousands of athletes will make the trip to compete in a variety of divisions and weight classes, and all of the excitement will be broadcast live on FloGrappling and the FloSports app.

IBJJF Brasileiro is the third of the year’s four IBJJF Grand Slam events and will see competitors placed into divisions based on their ages and belt colors – white, blue, purple, brown and black – and each category will feature nine weight classes. There also will be an Open/Absolute title up for grabs.
The expectation for this year’s tournament is nearly 8,000 entries, a record number, and while the event will provide a one-of-a-kind experience and opportunity for so many athletes, it’s usually the adult black belts who garner the most attention.
Three black belts still are in contention to complete the Grand Slam in 2026, and countless others are headed to Brazil looking for redemption from the European Jiu-Jitsu IBJJF Championship in January and/or the Pan Jiu Jitsu IBJJF Championship in March.
The competitors who are 2 for 2 at IBJJF Grand Slam events this season and were victorious at last year’s World Championships are Diego Pato (men’s light featherweight), Tainan Dalpra (men’s middleweight) and Gabi Pessanha (women’s super-heavyweight).
Because the organization considers the World Championships in May/June to be the official start of the competition calendar, the trio can complete the feat in São Paulo.
