Mario Lopez not only ruled the hallways of Bayside High, he now rules the mats in North America.
Lopez, the beloved "Saved by the Bell" star who played A.C. Slater, won the Master North America Championship on May 27 as the actor once again showed his talent in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

Lopez, 52, captured the master light men's purple belt title and was later promoted to brown belt during the Master International IBJJF North American Championships, the event that whets the appetite for the World IBJJF Championships beginning May 28 at the Walter Pyramid.
“This is an awesome day,” Lopez told IBJJF. “I’m grateful to be here and everything went really well today ... I’m a little speechless, but just thrilled.”
Lopez has competed in BJJ for years. He earned a silver medal at the IBJJF Orange County Spring Open last year and took first place at the Phoenix Open in 2022.

The Master International IBJJF North American Championships concluded Wednesday, and the World Championships begin Thursday with finals scheduled for Sunday in what is one of the biggest weekends in jiu-jitsu. All of the action is streaming on FloGrappling and the FloSports app.
