Brianna Ste-Marie is set to return to the WNO flyweight division where she will take on Amanda "Tubby" Alequin in Dallas, TX on the undercard of WNO: Craig Jones vs Pedro Marinho on Friday, January 21.

Ste-Marie will be making her black belt debut in her second appearance on the WNO mats. She won her debut in October via submission, a triangle against Bri Robertson. With her victory, Ste-Marie earned the first-ever victory in the WNO womenā€™s 125 lb division, and the no.10 spot in the flyweight ranks.

In January, sheā€™ll take on a long-time flyweight contender in Alequin. Alequin has had the 125 lb division under her thumb in sub only competition. But she made her WNO debut in the 115 lb category as a contestant in the WNO Championship. Alequin took third in that tournament with two submission victories via leg lock, including the fastest of any submission in the female divisions on WNO (43 seconds).

Alequin is a seasoned veteran at the black belt ranks, and she has the accolades to prove it. The Gamblers representative is a no-gi world champion, a No-Gi Pans champion, and she won the ADCC trials in 2015.

But sheā€™ll be facing one of the most talented representatives in a new wave of grapplers in Brazilian Top Teamā€™s Ste-Marie. For evidence, look no further than Ste-Marieā€™s performance at the 2021 ADCC North American Trials, where she won all five of her matches to capture a gold medal, and earned three submission victories.

Alequin and Ste-Marie are two cornerstones in the growing 125 lb female division, and whoever wins will be one step closer to a title match with the division queen, Ffion Davies.
