The gripping tale of Pedigo Submission Fighting (PSF) reached new heights in the sixth episode of  Daisy Fresh Season 3, threading a captivating narrative that begins before the ADCC West Coast Trials, then oscillates between the ADCC open and the transformative growth of the PSF team back in Mount Vernon.

With continued success on and off the mats, the Pedigo Submission Fighting crew at Daisy Fresh has begun to outgrow the laundromat in which the team was born. The Wiltse brothers, Andrew and Bird, have now purchased a house, upgrading their living situation and providing them with a space to further their journey in content creation and production of instructional videos. As they celebrate the journey thus far, Andrew shares an anecdote about an unexpected trap of his newfound revenue: paying taxes for the first time. Later, he opens up about his mental health struggles during his time off the mats due to compounding injuries.

Back for its third and final season, Daisy Fresh: An American Jiu-Jitsu Story's first episode opened on a fiery note. Following the journey of Pedigo Submission Fighting and its meteoric rise in competitive jiu-jitsu, season three begins in the weeks leading up to the 2021 Who's Number One Championship, where Andrew Wiltse is set to compete in the middleweight division. Due to injury, Wiltse has to drop from the competition; rising colored-belt star Jacob "the Hillbilly Hammer" Couch replaces Wiltse in the competition in the eleventh hour.

When we first visited Pedigo Submission Fighting in Mt. Vernon, Illinois, it was for this highly praised photo essay about the life of the Wiltse brothers and their life literally living on the mats. That photo essay became the base for what would eventually become one of our most successful film projects to date, Daisy Fresh: An American Jiu-Jitsu Story.

Daisy Fresh the series introduced the world of jiu-jitsu to America's most blue-collar jiu-jitsu team, Pedigo Submission Fighting, and emerging as their unofficial team captain and unlikely celebrity is Andrew Wiltse.

You wouldn’t expect to see a tribe of dedicated martial artists in middle-of-nowhere Mt. Vernon, Illinois, to be making waves on the competition scene. You wouldn’t expect that their star student and model athlete is not from Brazil, but instead from Drummond Island — just south of the Canadian border. And you wouldn’t expect jiu-jitsu to be in their DNA.

The first episode of our Daisy Fresh series was met with positive reviews from the community. Tons of fans tuned in and enjoyed the story of the young men living on the mats at Pedigo Submission Fighting. Our next episode will follow the guys as they travel from Mt. In February 2017 I completed my first project working freelance for FloGrappling, a photo essay titled "A Trip To America's Unseen Jiu-Jitsu Heartland." I lost money on the project, slept on the mats with the guys in the cold Illinois winter, and ended up having to change my friend's tire in the middle of nowhere in freezing weather on the way back to Chicago from Southern Illinois. But it was successful and opened up doors for me.
