Learn how the team vs team matchups at CJI 2 will work, plus the banned techniques and more

With the Craig Jones Invitational 2 happening in a matter of weeks, more information is coming out about the format and rules around the team vs team matchups. With 8 of the toughest squads ever assembled all in contention for a million dollar prize, the strategy will be as important as the skill level. Craig recently released a video featuring himself, Kit Dale, and several kids (or who we at least assume are kids) demonstrating how things will unfold in Las Vegas on August 30th & 31st.

Forbidden Techniques
At CJI 2, the following techniques or strategies are explicitly forbidden;
- Spiking on the head/neck
- Eye gouging
- Fish hooking
- Hair pulling
- Strikes of any kind
- Pulling, pinching, or twisting of the features or small joints.
- Scratching or biting
- Fleeing the pit

Team Match Formats
- Each squad will send in their first athlete, anyone the coach decides. There is no set order according to weight or any other factor.
- Each match will be eight minutes. If someone wins by submission or disqualification, they stay and face the next person. If no one is submitted or disqualified, then both are eliminated.
- Athlete orders are chosen at the discretion of the coach. Coaches will communicate to the back who they want to send next, and that person will enter. Opponents and the public will not know who is coming next.
- Matches continue until all athletes from a team are eliminated, by submission or draw.
- There will be tiebreaking criteria if both teams are eliminated at the same time (for example, if there are no submissions in any of the five matches) but that has not been explicitly revealed yet.
