Rankings Stock Watch: Post Euros Edition
The rundown on who moved the most in the rankings after Euros and KASAI.
The first major IBJJF tournament of the year is in the books, with the week-long IBJJF European Championships wrapped up last week in Lisbon, Portugal. There has been a ton of movement in the rankings after that event, from purple to black belt.
There was also KASAI Pro 7 over the weekend, with some movement in the no-gi rankings as a result. While the movement at no-gi wasn’t as significant, there were still some shake-ups in the pound-for-pound rankings as a result.
The black belt team rankings have been updated as well, team rankings for both the male and female teams and the overall team rankings. There’s no surprise that Alliance is still number one after their dominance in Lisbon, but some teams have made big moves after their performances at Euros.
Here are your biggest movers from the most recent rankings updates:
Team Rankings

Brasa CTA made the most remarkable jump in the team rankings, moving from eight to fifth after Euros. This comes off big performances from both Mikey Musumeci and Tomoyuki Hashimoto at the tournament. Hashimoto moved from eighth to second after winning the roosterweight bracket, and I will touch on the unique Mikey situation shortly. Brasa CTA was the big mover in the team rankings this week, though.
No-Gi Rankings
Roberto “Cyborg” Abreu (Fight Sports) had fallen from the pound-for-pound rankings in no-gi, after finishing fourth at ADCC and going 1-1 against Victor Hugo at No-Gi Worlds. Cyborg stormed back into the rankings after KASAI Pro 7, though, defeating Lucas “Hulk” Barbosa in dominant fashion in the final. Cyborg moves from unranked P4P to 11th.
Male Black Belt
Michael Musumeci (Brasa CTA) is the first athlete ranked in two weight classes, after his win at Euros in light-feather, a weight he won Worlds at twice. Mikey is currently the favorite to win Worlds at either weight he goes, and according to him there is a chance that the IBJJF might allow him to compete at both weights.
Tommy Langaker (KMR Kimura) moved up from 11th to fourth in the incredibly deep middleweight division. The 2019 Abu Dhabi World Pro champ won by submission in both his semifinal and final, against Ronaldo Junior and Paquito.

Ffion Davies (ECJJA) Made a huge jump in the pound-for-pound rankings, going from 13th to fourth. Ffion dominated in Lisbon in her finals at both her weight class and the open class.
Amal Amjahid (PAT Team) Moved up to a different weight class in the rankings and takes the top spot, after coming out on top of a tough featherweight division in Lisbon. First top-ranked Bia Basilio lost to Larissa Campos, who Amal went on to beat in the final.
Brown Male
Italo Frota (Checkmat) Went from unranked to first, winning a roosterweight division at brown belt that included six ranked athletes.
Tainan Dalpra (Atos/AOJ) went from sixth to first after Euros, submitting all of his opponents, including three of the top five ranked athletes on his way to winning middleweight.
Davi Cabral (GF Team) moved up from heavyweight to super-heavy, taking out top-ranked Anderson Munis on his way to gold at Euros. Cabral was the eighth-ranked heavyweight and is now the top-ranked super-heavyweight.
