The 2022 Jiu-Jitsu season will soon erupt into full swing. A year that’s sure to be packed with twists and turns, upsets and breakthrough moments, 2022 is bound to be unpredictable.

For the second straight event, Who's Number One (WNO) will feature a clash of ADCC champions in the main event. After Gordon Ryan vs Matheus Diniz in October, this time around we are bringing you 2019 99+kg champ Kaynan Duarte vs 2015 99kg champ Rodolfo Vieira in no-gi, submission only action.

It is extremely rare for two reigning ADCC champs to meet each other in a superfight, and that is exactly what will happen when Gordon Ryan and Matheus Diniz class on October 2nd in Austin. This will be the first meeting between them, in a 30-minute, submission-only format under WNO rules.

ADCC and IBJJF world champion Augusto "Tanquinho" Mendes called in for the 50th episode of the WNO Podcast on Monday. He gave us some great war stories from over the years.

Since its inception in 1998, the Abu Dhabi Combat Club (ADCC) World Championships has been the premier no-gi competition, starting as a way for athletes from various disciplines to test themselves. Initially taking place yearly and then moving to a biennial affair, there have been 13 ADCC events so far in its history.

I recently reached out to the legendary Augusto "Tanquinho" Mendes to pitch an idea for an article. I knew that during his long career he had defeated a "who's who" of the jiu-jitsu world, with multiple hall-of-famers on his victim's list. Tanquinho was already an IBJJF Worlds champ gi and no-gi and recently won ADCC 2019 at 36 years old, his career has been epic.

The 2019 ADCC World Championships was easily the biggest event in the history of grappling. The SoCal fans turned out along with many others traveling from around the globe, the production team put on a spectacle this sport has never seen before, and the athletes brought the intensity level which has always been associated with ADCC competition.

We are less than a week out of ADCC, and the anticipation is reaching a boiling point. The "Olympics of Grappling” is almost upon us and fans, athletes, and most certainly the FloGrappling team are speculating what the brackets might end up looking like. As we will not know the brackets until the day before the event, much time has been spent at the FloSports HQ drawing up seeds and potential brackets.
