Veteran champions Felipe Pena and Rafael Lovato Jr. are set to face off at WNO 23 in a heavyweight no-gi super fight. The two WNO veterans have won at the highest levels throughout their careers and both are ranked in the top-10 in the world for no-gi grappling.

Two former IBJJF World Champions are talking about a potential series of super fights, with Felipe Pena laying down the challenge to Nicholas Meregali on Instagram. After Meregali initially said he wanted a fight with Pena in the gi, Pena has responded wanting a match in BOTH gi and no-gi. Nicholas has already responded, saying he will respond to the offer when he feels like it.

Felipe Pena is one of the best heavyweight jiu-jitsu competitors in the world and already well-accustomed to WNO competition.

Felipe Pena has been an international force in no-gi grappling for nearly a decade, owning one of the most impressive resumes in the sport with regard to accolades and victories. He is an ADCC absolute champion, an IBJJF No-Gi World Championship double gold medalist, and the only man to defeat Gordon Ryan twice.

UFC Fight Pass Invitational 4 took place tonight at the UFC Apex and delivered with high-level grappling action headlined by Craig Jones and Felipe Pena, with Craig winning by escape time over the former ADCC absolute champion. In the co-main event, UFC veterans Glover Teixeira and Anthony rematched from their 2020 UFC bout, with Teixiera winning by decision. Nick Rodriguez defeated three men in the same night, including Dan Manasoiu in the finals, to win the $30,000 grand prize. Also on the card, Nicholas Meregali defeated Cyborg Abreu, Helena Crevar won in dominant fashion, and Roman Bravo-Young grappled Alex Perez to a draw.

ADCC champion Felipe Pena will return to the Tezos WNO mats on August 10 to take on rising star submission hunter Haisam Rida on the main card of Tezos WNO 19: Meregali vs Duarte on Thursday, August 10 in Austin, TX at the Palmer Event Center.

UFC Fight Pass Invitational 4, their running grappling event, is set to return June 29th in Las Vegas, NV when they host a slate of no-gi super-fights including Craig Jones vs. Felipe Pena, Nicholas Meregali vs. Cyborg Abreau, Glover Teixeira vs. Anthony Smith, and a one night 8-man open weight bracket with the winner getting $30,000.
