WNO 31 is shaping up to be one of the most compelling cards of the year, packed with title matches, high-stakes rematches, and ranked contenders facing off in grappling super fight action. It's all going down in Round Rock, TX on December 5th and we’re breaking down the biggest storylines to watch out for and keep in mind before the athletes step on the mat.

When Deandre Corbe and Diego Pato meet at WNO 31 for Pato's lightweight title, it will be the second time these two have met this year with high stakes. In June, they faced off in the semifinals of a major Sapateiro tournament that included most of the top 155lb grapplers on Earth. Corbe would pick up the win there and go on to win the entire tournament. Now, Pato gets his chance at revenge under his ruleset at WNO 31 in Round Rock, TX.

Taking place every two years, the ADCC World Championships have long been dominated by Brazilians and Americans in terms of participants by country. This year, Canada checks in behind Brazil, USA, and Australia as the fourth most represented country with six athletes qualifying to fight at the 2024 ADCC World Championships.

One of the most interesting parts of grappling is seeing how it continues to evolve, even in small positions. Professional athletes and coaches are constantly looking for new and novel ways to initiate or counter existing techniques or strategies, and the moves trickle outward through jiu-jitsu from there. The Stage is set for the final day of the 2022 IBJJF No-Gi World Championships. Each of the male divisions narrowed down to the final eight yesterday, and the finalists were named in each of the female divisions.

The 22-man lightweight division slated for next week’s IBJJF No-Gi World Championships is deep with wildcards, rookies and dark horses. But among them are three clear cut favorites, each of whom have likely earned their positions as top seeds with successful outings at IBJJF majors over the last several years.

This past weekend at Finisher’s HQ in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, the 17th edition of Finisher’s Submission Only featured two riveting women’s title fights and a 16-man, $2,000 cash prize lightweight bracket.

This weekend's Finishers Sub Only 17 hosted two action filled women’s matches for the 105 lb and 135 lb belts, as well as a men’s lightweight bracket. Faye Cherrier of Atos Atlanta took home the first ever 105 lb belt, while her teammate Alex Enriquez defended the 135 lb strap. Deandre Corbe, a veteran on the Finishers circuit, won the 155 lb bracket with four submissions in four matches.

Standard Jiu-Jitsu has seemingly flown under the radar for years.

Tomorrow’s ADCC Las Vegas Open will feature more than 100 divisions spanning from kids, teens and masters to the adult pro divisions. It will be a great opportunity for athletes of all ages to experience the unique ruleset of ADCC; and for current and aspiring pros hoping to earn a spot in a future ADCC World Championship, that experience will be invaluable.
