The black belt class of 2021 is a who's who of top notch competitors, many of whom are likely to grace the top of black belt podiums in the coming months. Below are the athletes who earned the rank of black belt in December.

All year, the 2021 jiu-jitsu season has shown signs that it could bring the changing of the guard, the rise of the next generation. Throughout the year, we’ve seen legacy champions fall to the young up-and-comers; we’ve seen new styles and strategies overthrow the more traditional ones.

The 2021 World Championships final rounds are set. Today, the IBJJF will crown its first new champions in more than two years at the 25th edition of Worlds.

The 2021 IBJJF Worlds finals are set! The absolute divisions and the women’s divisions have been whittled down to a single remaining match to decide this year’s champions; and the male divisions have been narrowed to eight men each.

Day one of the IBJJF World Championships was filled with the action, submissions and incredible stories expected of an event of this caliber. Day two is sure to deliver as well, as the male purple and brown belts will take their place on the mats in search of the most coveted title in jiu-jitsu. With hundreds of competitors in search of just a few medals, we're guaranteed  thrilling action throughout the day.

The IBJJF World Championship returns for the first time since 2019, and jiu-jitsu fans are salivating at the opportunity to finally get to see the best gi competitors in the world meet in California again. There are some crazy divisions at black belt, I'll select a few and pick my favorites to win the division.

The brackets for the 25th edition of the IBJJF World Championships are now official. Those brackets are available here via bjjcompsystem.com. The number of potentially exciting matchups is expansive, but there are a few matches guaranteed in the early rounds that you can’t miss. We’ve sifted through the black belt divisions to identify the best first round pairings — as well as likely second round matches — that are bound to provide some of the best jiu-jitsu action of the year.

The countdown is almost over– we are mere weeks away from the most anticipated jiu-jitsu event of the year. The IBJJF World Championships has not taken place since June of 2019, and there is a palpable sensation of excitement among fans and athletes as we draw closer to the tournament.

The 2020 IBJJF European Championships are taking place all week long in Lisbon, Portugal, and of course all of the action is streamed live on FloGrappling. There are nearly 5,000 competitors competing and it can be hard to keep track of who to watch, so here is a watch guide for who to look out for at adult male brown belt.

There is no question that Bruno Malfacine is one of the greatest jiu-jitsu competitors to ever walk onto the tatami. A ten-time world champion, the Alliance superstar has conquered every major title imaginable. 

The divisions are official for the 2020 Europeans, and some of them are loaded with the best athletes in the world at their weight while others might leave a little to be desired. I’m going to get into stacking the black belt male divisions by difficulty here, ranking them from least difficult up to the most prized division to win for Euros.

Registrations have closed for the 2020 IBJJF European Championships; while we don't know the brackets yet the division lists can give us an idea of what to expect in Lisbon. Brackets will drop on January 18, and the action goes down from January 20-26. 

We are a little over a month away from the start of the 2020 IBJJF gi season at the European Championships in Lisbon. With so little time remaining, we have a good idea of who will be competing at black belt next year, barring a few end-of-year promotions that tend to take place in December every year.
